What if a foreigner does not understand Chinese, and does not know how to handle the annual personal income tax return in Wuhan? Here comes good news.
Andrew John Collinson, an American employee of the Dongfeng Motor Corporation, encountered this very problem.

Staff members from the bureau help a foreign resident handle the annual tax return for individuals.
Luckily, he phoned the Taxation Bureau of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) who invited him to have an online meeting together with the financial department of the bureau. After more than one hour of explanation in English and Chinese, Collinson finally got to know how to apply tax rules to his income and enjoy tax benefits. "Thank you! It's great. I like living here," said Collinson.
WEDZ currently has more than 800 foreign residents. To better provide taxation services to them, the bureau has set up a team for cross-border tax service. The team members have mastered several foreign languages including English, Japanese and Korean. They offer onsite and online taxation counseling services through face-to-face service windows, self-service areas, apps, telephone consultations, mail and other channels.
"The team members are studying more foreign languages." Jiao Zixuan, a team member, said that he hopes to help more individuals or companies enjoy tax benefits through every effort of the team.
