CEO of EFI Group Asia-Pacific: R&D Center to be expanded in Wuhan

On April 22, the Wuhan Municipal Talent Development Conference was held. Lemaire, Chief Executive Officer of the Asia-Pacific Region of French EFI Automotive Group and General Manager of EFI Automotive (Wuhan), was invited to attend the conference and deliver a speech during the exchange session. He revealed that EFI Automotive will take Wuhan as its core hub, continue to increase R&D investment, expand its research and development center, focus on laying out cutting-edge fields such as new energy electric drive systems and intelligent sensors, accelerate technological innovation and product upgrading, and support the transformation of Wuhan's automotive industry.

According to Lemaire, EFI Group is a French family-owned enterprise with a 90-year history. It established a wholly-owned subsidiary in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone in 2004 and has been rooted in the River City for 22 years. The company has successively been recognized as a High-Tech Enterprise and a Specialized, Sophisticated, Unique and New Enterprise in Hubei Province. In 2025, it achieved revenue of 405 million yuan, with import and export volume exceeding 25 million US dollars. It has become a major auto parts importer and exporter in Wuhan Auto Valley, deeply participating in and witnessing the rapid rise of Wuhan's automotive industry.

As a foreign expert who has worked in China for nearly 20 years, Eric Lemaire became one of the first foreigners to obtain a Wuhan Five-Star Card at the end of 2023. In 2025, he was selected as a leading industrial talent under the "Wuhan Talents" program, enjoying a host of policy benefits including talent subsidies and medical insurance. He admitted that such support has made him feel deeply welcomed, and he has long regarded Wuhan as his second home.

"We chose Wuhan because of the city’s unique charm and solid industrial foundation," said Eric Lemaire. He noted that China has become the world’s largest new energy vehicle market, and Wuhan is a core hub of China’s automotive industry. The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone boasts a complete industrial chain, a strong innovation atmosphere and a rich pool of talent, providing an excellent environment for enterprises to conduct technological research and development and expand their markets. In addition, Wuhan has continuously optimized its business environment. Procedures from industrial and commercial registration and project application to factory expansion approval are streamlined and efficient. The enterprise also benefits from policy support such as tax reductions and additional deductions for R&D expenses, which ease operational burdens and greatly strengthen confidence in long-term development in Wuhan.
